In June, Gwent Safeguarding is launching a new Group C Safeguarding Adults Course aligned with the Wales National Safeguarding Training Standards and Framework. This course has been developed ‘in house’ by Gwent Safeguarding under the auspices of the Learning and Development Subgroup.
This is the first Group C training package in Wales, certainly amongst the 6 regional safeguarding partnerships and Gwent Safeguarding’ Learning and Development Subgroup is in discussion with Social Care Wales about the possibility of sharing the package with other regions.
This course constitutes the 8 hours initial generic learning required by Group C practitioners under the new national framework, after which Group C practitioners are expected to complete additional safeguarding related learning (18 hrs over 3 years) relevant to their specific roles as part of their continuing professional development.
A separate Group C Children package is being developed and will be available later in the year.
