Poverty is widespread and the current, cautious figure is that 28% of children and young people in Wales live in poverty. Given these large numbers, poverty will affect many of the children, young people and families that you work with.

This session will provide a greater understanding of their daily lives and the emotional and physical impact poverty has on children, young people and their families. Drawing on the experiences and voices of practitioners and young people, this one-hour session will include:

  • Challenges and barriers faced by parents.
  • Challenges and barriers faced by children and young people
  • Impact on emotional and mental health
  • Behaviour and decision making
  • What this means for safeguarding.

These sessions are aimed at practitioners working with children and families.
