This Barring Workshop is designed to strengthen safeguarding practitioners’ understanding of when and how barring referrals should be made, and the responsibilities organisations hold under the legal duty to refer. Participants will develop confidence in assessing relevant conduct, applying the harm test, and recognising when thresholds for referral have been met. Practical examples and discussion will support practitioners in making high‑quality referrals supported by appropriate evidence.
Aim:
To equip safeguarding practitioners to identify when a barring referral is necessary and complete well‑evidenced submissions in line with statutory duties.
Target Audience:
Safeguarding practitioners involved in referral or casework decisions.
